Quetta, Aug. 8 : The Pakistan Police on Monday confirmed the death of at least 30 people in a bomb explosion at the main gate of a government hospital in Quetta.
The blast took place following the killing of former president of Balochistan Bar Association Bilal Anwar Kasi, who was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Quetta.
It is suspected that the attack was carried out by a suicide bomber from Balochistan. The explosion took place soon after lawyers arrived at the Civil Hospital when Kasi's body was brought in.
"This was a security lapse and I am having this personally investigated," the Dawn quoted Balochistan Home Minister Sarfaraz Bugti as saying.
Bugti, however, said that it was too early to determine the nature of the blast. The area has been cordoned off and an emergency has been declared in hospitals across Quetta after the blast.
