7th Senior National Hockey C’ship 2017 ‘A’ Division: RSPB thrash Jharkhand 9-1

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], June 18 : Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) thrashed Hockey Jharkhand 9-1 in their Pool A encounter of the ongoing Hockey India 7th Senior National Hockey Championship 2017 (Men) 'A' Division here on Sunday.

Goals for Railway Sports Promotion Board were scored by Manpreet (9'), Karanpal Singh (14'), Yuvraj Walmiki (20', 30'), Affan Yousuf (33'), Gauravjeet Singh (48'), Rajin Kandulna (51'), Ajit Kumar Pandey (53') and Amit Rohidas (60').

In Pool C, Punjab (and) Sind Bank beat Hockey Odisha 4-1. Karamjit Singh (14'), Parvinder Singh (23'), Prabhdeep Singh (25') and Gurinder Singh (35') were among the goal scorers for Punjab (and) Sind Bank.

Hockey Odisha's goal was scored by Rakesh Tete in the 59th minute. In Pool A's second game, Services Sports Control Board continued their perfect start to the tournament as they beat Namdhari XI 5-2.

Jugraj Singh scored a brace (24', 38') in match high on attacking hockey as they took the three points.

In Pool C, Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy beat Hockey Patiala 2-1. The opener came from Gursahib Singh in the 16th minute to give Hockey Patiala the lead. Despite constant pressure it took until the third quarter for Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy to find the equalizer, Nikky Kaushal converting a penalty stroke in the 39th minute to draw them level.

With the game edging towards a draw, Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy were the ones who found an extra edge Haider Ali scoring in the 56th minute to give them the three points.

In Pool D, Hockey Chandigarh beat Association of Indian Universities 2-1. Joginder Singh opened the scoring with a goal in the 12th minute to give Association of Indian Universities the lead.

Damanjit Singh's brace (38', 40') was the settler though as Hockey Chandigarh took the three points. Hockey Punjab beat Hockey Bhopal 6-2 in Pool B. Sarvanjit Singh opened the scoring for Hockey Punjab early in the third minute with a smartly taken goal.

From therein Hockey Punjab never let up, Baljinder Singh's brace (30', 46') giving them a comfortable three points.

In Pool D, Air India Sports Promotion Board beat Hockey Haryana 2-1. Harsahib Singh scored the opener for Air India Sports Promotion Board in the 7th minute. Munish Rana got the equalizer for Hockey Haryana in the 19th minute. It took till the final quarter, Armaan Qureshi scoring in the 52nd minute to give them the lead, one that proved to be the winner as they took the points.
