Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], June 17 : Goals by Sandeep Singh (7') and Damanjit Singh (37') helped Hockey Chandigarh beat Hockey Haryana 2-1 in their Pool D encounter on Day Two of the ongoing Hockey India 7th Senior National Hockey Championship 2017 (Men) 'A' Division here in Lucknow.
The only goal for Hockey Haryana was scored by Gagandeep Singh in the 57th minute. In Pool C, the Mumbai Hockey Association Ltd and Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy drew 2-2. Avneesh Kumar Sen opened the scoring for Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy in the 2nd minute of the game. Goals from Victo Singh (27') and Vikram Yadav (30') gave The Mumbai Hockey Association Ltd lead. Right at the end of the third quarter though, Vikash Chaudhary scored the goal that would split the points, both teams ending an exciting match on equal terms.
In Pool A, Uttar Pradesh Hockey beat Services Sports Control Board 2-1. Sunil Yadav was the star of the game with a brace (2', 49') that settled the game for Uttar Pradesh Hockey.
Jugraj Singh (12') scored Services Sports Control Board's goal. Hockey Patiala and Punjab (and) Sind Bank drew 1-1 in an exciting Pool C encounter. Karamjit Singh's goal for Punjab (and) Sind Bank in the 18th mintue was cancelled out by Kawaljit Singh's 49th minute goal as the teams split the points.
Hockey Karnataka and Air India Sports Promotion Board played out a 0-0 stalemate in Pool D. Despite a host of chances for both sides, neither could convert ending the game goal less. Both teams are yet to win a match in the tournament. In Pool A, Namdhari XI beat Hockey Jharkhand 6-0 to record their first win of the tournament. Goals by Harwinder Singh (10', 15'), Gagandeep Singh (34'), Udhampreet Singh (35') and Sukhdev Singh (43', 49') saw off Hockey Jharkhand, as Namdhari XI took the three points.
Comptroller (and) Auditor General of India beat Hockey Bhopal 3-0 in their Pool B encounter. Neither team could break the deadlock in the first two quarters, a host of cards the defining feature of the opening periods of play.
Sidharth Shankar scored in the 49th minute to give Comptroller (and) Auditor General of India the lead.
It was one they never let up on, SS Bundela's brace (45', 57') capping off their first victory of the tournament.
