Lahore (Punjab) [Pakistan], Aug.28 : Describing Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) leader Altaf Hussain as being more British than Pakistani, Information, Broadcasting Minister and National Heritage Senator Pervaiz Rashid has said that steps need to be taken to take the former to task for his recent anti-Pakistan statements.
"Altaf Hussain has been operating from London for a long time and his single call used to result in shutter downs, wheel jams, killing of innocent citizens and bringing Karachi's life to a standstill," the Dawn quoted Rashid, as saying on the sidelines of the 16th Textile Asia 2016 Exhibition that was inaugurated at the Expo Centre here.
Rashid said he hoped the authorities in London would not only stop "their citizen" [Altaf Hussain] from delivering anti-Pakistan speeches, but also take stern action as per "their" laws against him for the offence he had committed.
"We believe British democracy and law will take its course and nab Altaf Hussain for inciting his party workers to extremism and violence," he added.
Rashid also praised Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for his proactive approach to dealing with the security-related crisis in Karachi, and maintained that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) leader and former cricketer Imran Khan had lost trust in democracy, the Supreme Court and even in himself.
