New Delhi [India], Sep 2 : Flipkart has emerged as the 'E-commerce company of the year' in a nationwide consumer study conducted by BusinessWorld Group in association with Nielsen.
Flipkart was conferred this honour at the inaugural edition of 'The Golden Carts Awards 2016' which is based on a 16 cities consumer survey among 85 e-commerce players across 14 core categories in India.
Flipkart Group, which started the e-commerce wave in the country, was conferred with seven awards across the categories of beauty, children's clothing, equipment and toys, fashion, electronics and FMCG.
While Flipkart won five awards, Myntra and Jabong got one award each, crowning Flipkart Group as the numero-uno e-commerce conglomerate in India.
The brand assessment is based on several research methodologies, including a nationwide survey, nomination, recall among consumers and assessing the web traffic, to understand favorite websites among consumers who shopped in the past six months.
Flipkart, overall scored the highest across parameters and emerged as the preferred brand, ahead of brands like Amazon, Airtel, IRCTC, ICICI, Paytm and MakeMyTrip.
The findings of the survey clearly recognize the many innovations introduced by Flipkart to continuously raise the bar towards redefining the e-commerce shopping experience for every Indian.
Flipkart has introduced various new offerings including Flipkart Assured, No Cost EMIs and product exchanges designed for an Indian shopper to enable her to shop online seamlessly.
The Indian e-commerce market is among the fastest growing in the world. The recent research titled 'Indian e-tailing Leadership Index' by research firm RedSeer, states that the market is expected to witness a compound annual growth rate of 45 to 50 percent over the next few years.
The same study also ranks Flipkart as the most preferred e-commerce platform in India. Furthermore, Flipkart emerged as the topmost ranked Indian brand in the Ipsos study of India's most influential brands in April this year.
