Johannesburg [South Africa], Sept.3 : Reigning world champion Lewis Hamilton emerged as the fastest driver in the final practice session of the Italian Grand Prix ahead of qualifying at Monza.
Hamilton produced a scintillating performance as he finished 0.393 seconds quicker than his Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg at the famous old high-speed circuit.
Four-time champion Sebastian Vettel was third ahead of Ferrari teammate Kimi Raikkonen and Valtteri Bottas of Williams.
Red Bull driver Max Verstappen, widely criticised for his aggressive overtaking and defensive methods in recent races, raised eyebrows again when he veered into the racing line while driving on a slow lap, resulting in Rosberg nearly rear-ending him, Sport24 reported.
Hamilton, seeking his third successive Monza victory, is currently leading the driver standings by nine points.
