Kathmandu [Nepal], Sept. 11 : Hoping that his upcoming India visit would help boost bilateral ties between the two countries, Nepal's Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has urged the people not to dictate him and allow him to take risk in favour of national interest.
"I urge all the people in the country not to dictate me and let me take risk in favour of our national interest," the Kathmandu Post quoted him as saying during an interaction on Indo-Nepal relations organised yesterday by the Nepal Institute of International Relations.
Dahal, who is set to embark on an official visit to India from September 15, maintained that no controversial deals would be signed during the same.
He said, "A leader should have the privilege to take risk. If you say, I won't go [to India]." He also took jibe at his predecessor K.P. Sharma Oli-led government of creating a rift between people from the hills and the Madhes region. He insisted that the country cannot become prosperous without strengthening national unity. Ever since he assumed his new role as the Prime Minister, he has major tasks cut out for him which also include improving relations with India as one of the most important tasks.
He has long been floating the policy of tripartite cooperation among China-Nepal-India as he believes it could fulfill Kathmandu's aspirations of change and prosperity.
