New Delhi, Dec 2 : Bharatiya Janata Party MP Nishikant Dubey's name trended on Twitter on Monday after he outrightly rejected the GDP numbers, leading to users making fun of him.
Speaking in the Lok Sabha, Dubey said that Gross Domestic Product (GDP) numbers need not be taken seriously as these were not words taken from some religious book, meaning thereby that these did not represent the gospel truth.
One user posted: "Gonna tell my kids this is the person who invented economics!"
Another commented: "Alright, Nishikant Dubey sir.
Pray tell us what Valmiki or Tulsidas said about economy determination then."
A post read: "This BJP MP quotes a US president's line from 1968 and claims that GDP will become irrelevant in the future.
The joke is on us."
One user commented: "One more BJP leader shows his IQ level by saying that don't consider that the GDP is Bible, Ramayana or Mahabharata.
It's not everything."
Another posted: "Total genius. Should be made the Finance Minister."
One Twitter user wrote: "Congratulations India. We made jokers to sit in Parliament...."
