Bengaluru, April 9 : The South Western Railway (SWR) zone has shipped 14 wagons full of fodder and husk to Ranoli, Gujarat to feed the cattle amid the lockdown, an official said on Thursday.
"Fourteen wagons of fodder and husk were transported on Wednesday from Haveri to Ranoli in Gujarat," said an SWR spokesperson in a statement.
Ranoli is about 1,065 km north of Haveri in Karnataka.
"Indian Railways is running freight and parcel trains for nationwide transportation of essential commodities during the 21-day lockdown," said the statement.
According to the railway zone, the 14-wagon fodder consignment will give a leg up to domestic cattle in Gujarat to bolster milk production.
Livestock such as cow, goat and sheep will be fed with Karnataka fodder to maintain dairy supply during the lockdown.
Gujarat Ambuja Exports in Vadodara district has booked the consignment from Shiggon taluk, 45 km from Haveri.
