Bhubaneswar, Aug 12 : Odisha's coronavirus cases reached 50,672 with the detection of record 1,876 new cases in the last 24 hours, the Health Department said on Wednesday.
It is the highest single-day spike in positive cases in the state.
The number of active cases has risen to 15,509, as recoveries total 34,805 in the state.
The death toll crossed the 300-mark with nine more fatalities in the last 24 hours.
A total of 305 patients have so far succumbed to the dreaded virus in Odisha, the department said.
The new fatalities were reported from Ganjam district (4), Rayagada district (2), and one each from Angul, Balasore, and Khurda districts.
Out of the new positive cases, 1,182 are quarantine cases and 694 local contact cases.
