New Delhi [India], Nov. 13: Leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge on Sunday said Congress MPs would raise the demonetisation issue under rules 56 and 193 during the Winter Session beginning on November 16.
The rule 56 is related to a motion for an adjournment of the business of the House for the purpose of discussing a definite matter of urgent public importance, which may be made with the consent of the Speaker; whereas rule 193 lays down how a member will submit in writing his request for a discussion on a matter of urgent public importance.
This rule comes under Chapter XV of the Lok Sabha. Deputy leader of the opposition in the Rajya Sabha Anand Sharma has already given a notice for the suspension of business under rule 267 of the Rajya Sabha for a discussion on the same issue.
Meanwhile, leader of the opposition in the Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad gave a notice under rule 267 for discussion on the issue of Kashmir unrest.
The Winter Session, which will commence on November 16, will last till December 16. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had on November 8 announced demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes to tackle the black money menace.
