New Delhi [India], Nov. 23 : The Supreme Court on Wednesday reserved its order on the plea of the Bihar Government challenging the bail granted to rape accused RJD MLA Raj Ballabh Yadav by the Bihar High Court.
A bench of the Apex Court headed by Justice Arjan Kumar Sikri and also comprising Justice Abhay M Sapre reserved its order on the issue.
Earlier, following the Supreme Court's orders, Raj Ballabh, who is accused of raping a minor, surrendered today before the Bihar Sharif court.
In April, Yadav was named as one of the main accused in a charge-sheet filed by Nalanda Police, after he allegedly raped a minor girl at his residence on February 6th, following which he was immediately suspended by the party.
After absconding for almost one month, Yadav had surrendered in March before a chief magistrate's court in Bihar Sharif in Nalanda and was sent to jail.
However, he was granted bail by the Patna High Court on September 30, which the opposition used to criticize the state government for not placing facts against the RJD MLA before the Patna High Court.
Yadav, an MLA from Nawada assembly constituency, was suspended by the RJD after he was booked in the rape case on February 6.
