Patna (Bihar) [India], Nov. 26 : The Janata Dal (United) on Saturday said that their party does not have a herd mentality and is ready to support a party in power if something good is being done for the nation.
Commenting on Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's praise of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the demonetisation move, JD (U) leader Rajiv Ranjan told ANI, "Our thinking has changed.
All political parties are involved in herd mentality -- that whether the Centre does something good or bad -- we will oppose it just because we are the opposition, and, if we have our government in state, then the opposition will oppose.
Nitishji is walking a different path than these mentalities." "Nitishji has emerged as a constructive opposition.
Whether it was the move of surgical strike or GST, terrorism or demonetisation, Nitishji by supporting them, has shown that opposing just for the sake of it is not god for democracy and its principles," he added.
Ranjan said opposition should be aired when required and good moves need to be backed. He said that Nitish Kumar has backed demonetisation, but criticised the way it has been implemented. Earlier this week, Chief Minister Nitish upset his allies when he said the PM "is riding a tiger" to crackdown on tax evasion, forgery, and counterfeiting.
