SP, Cong, BSP toiling hard to save their existence in UP: PM Modi

Phoolpur (Uttar Pradesh) [India], Feb 20 : Coming down heavily on rival political parties, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said that post three phases of assembly polls, it has become evident that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will form government in Uttar Pradesh, adding that the Samajwadi Party, Congress and the Bahujan Samaj Party are now toiling hard to woo voters in order to save their respect.

Addressing a rally in Phoolpur, Allahabad, Prime Minister Modi said that where on one side all other parties are fighting elections for their esteem, the BJP is contesting the polls to change the destiny of Uttar Pradesh.

"There is a storm of change in Uttar Pradesh. After these three phases the SP, BSP and the Congress are leaving no stone unturned in gathering votes so that they can win some seats and save their respect," said the Prime Minister.

"On one side these parties are busy in safeguarding their esteem, on the another side, the BJP is toiling hard to change the destiny of Uttar Pradesh," he added.

The Prime Minister further assured that if the BJP is given a chance to serve Uttar Pradesh, they will make sure that the state develops in all quarters.

"Give the BJP an opportunity to serve Uttar Pradesh for five years. I promise you we will succeed in every parameter," he said. The third phase of polling recorded 61.16 percent turnout on Sunday and as the lengthy and staggered assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh crossed the halfway mark the main parties are upbeat about forming the next government.

After yesterday's voting 194 assembly segments in 37 districts will be left for polling in the remaining four phases.
