Trump says Chicago needs help

New Delhi [India], Feb. 24: US President Donald Trump expressed shock over the incident in Chicago where seven people were killed and another six were wounded in shootings on Wednesday and calling that the city 'needs help' as the situation is out of control.

"Seven people shot and killed yesterday in Chicago. What is going on there - totally out of control. Chicago needs help!," he tweeted. Six of the seven victims Wednesday were killed on the South Side, with the seventh being shot to death in Little Village.

They ranged from a pregnant woman in her 20s to a 60-year-old man. Five of the seven homicides recorded came within a two-hour period. According to local media reports, four other days this year have seen five fatal shootings, including last Tuesday and Wednesday.

The other bursts of killings happened on February 5 and January 21, when 25 people were shot - the highest single-day toll of gunshot victims.

Since January 1, at least 92 people have been fatally shot in Chicago, not including three more slain by police officers.

Nearly 400 more people have been wounded in shootings..
