Los Angeles [U.S.A.], Mar. 2 : After what is considered to be the Academy Awards' biggest mistake, PricewaterhouseCoopers top executive has offered to meet every individual member of Academy governors.
Tim Ryan, the New York-based chairman and senior partner of Academy's longtime accounting firm PWC, will meet Academy governors to maintain the firm's 83-year-old relationship with the organisation, reports The Hollywood Reporter.
While the Academy is still assessing its relationship with the accounting firm, Academy's President Cheryl Boone Isaacs said the two PwC accountants, Brian Cullinan and Martha Ruiz, responsible for this mix-up will never take part in future Oscars shows, confirmed an Academy spokesperson.
Cullinan, who was tweeting during the final moments of the show, is responsible for handing presenter Warren Beatty, a back-up envelope for best actress rather than the best picture envelope.
This issue resulted in 'La La Land', rather than 'Moonlight', being announced as the best picture winner.
Meanwhile, Academy CEO Dawn Hudson has reached out to the 54 members of her organisation's board of governors and offered to set up one-on-one meetings between them and Ryan, ostensibly to address any questions or concerns they may have ahead of the next full-board meeting on March 28, at which the fate of the Academy's 83-year relationship with PwC could be a matter of discussion.
Since the awards blunder, PwC has issued apologies and accepted responsibility of the incident, saying, "last night we failed the Academy.".
