New Delhi [India], Mar. 29 : The Supreme Court on Wednesday will hear a plea filed by Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) chief and former BCCI president Anurag Thakur in connection with the allegations of encroaching land to construct the Dharamsala cricket stadium.
Last month, the apex court had dismissed an appeal of the Himachal Pradesh Government challenging the High Court's verdict quashing a criminal case against Thakur on the same.
The state government had approached the court against the judgement given by high court in August 2016 which had replied the FIR lodged in April 2014 against Thakur, and others in the case.
The state government had leased the land measuring 49,118.25 square metres to the HPCA to construct the stadium.
Thakur and others were summoned as accused by the lower court in connection with the matter in 2015. The high court had stated that the accused were summoned, but their roles were not specifically highlighted in the alleged offence.
