Karachi, Aug.6 : Former Test player Shoaib Mohammad has called on Pakistan to put relentless pressure on England in the third Test if they want to create history by becoming the first Asian side to win at Edgbaston.
In reply to England's first innings score of 297, Pakistan scored exactly 400 to take a lead of 103 before Alastair Cook (64) and Alex Hales (50) showcased a solid opening to propel their side to a 17-run lead at stumps on Day Three.
Shoaib, who believes Pakistan are still slight favourites to win this Test, urged the Misbah-ul-Haq-led side not to allow England fight back in the remaining two days, the Express Tribune reported.
The highlight of the Pakistan's innings was Sami Aslam (82) and Azhar Ali (139) sharing a huge 181-run stand for the second wicket.
Reflecting on the same, Shoaib said he is more impressed by Aslam's innings than Azhar's ton because he displayed better techniques and plans and left the England bowlers frustrated by leaving good deliveries.
The four-match Test series is currently tied at 1-1 following England's massive 330-run win over Pakistan in the second match at Old Trafford.
Misbah's side won the first match by 75 runs at Lord's for the first time in 20 years..
