Indian Invention to save new born babies; wins award from Government of India

New Delhi [India], May 12 (ANI-NewsVoir): Pluss Advanced Technologies Pvt. Ltd., a venture funded company by Tata Capital Innovations Fund, has been bestowed with the MSME - 2017 Award for successful commercialization of their innovative and indigenous "MiraCradle".

The award was presented at the exclusive National Technology Day Function 2017 at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi.

The award was given by the President of India, Pranab Mukherjee. The award included a cash prize of Rs. 15,00,000 a trophy and a citation. The marquee Technology Day Function is celebrated by the Government of India on May 11 every year to commemorate the Pokhran-II explosion (11th May, 1998).

The award function was presided over by Minister for Science and Technology and Earth Sciences, Dr. Harsh Vardhan. This by far is the most competitive award for MSME category in the area of innovation and indigenous development of Technology.

"We are proud to have received the award for MiraCradle - a neonate cooler to treat newborn babies born with birth asphyxia.

This gives fillip to the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi's vision of not only 'Make in India' but 'Design in India", said Samit Jain, Managing Director, Pluss.

MiraCradle, a CE certified device, is today available in over 130 private hospitals in India. India accounts for over 150,000 neonatal deaths of the recorded 6,50,000 deaths globally. Birth Asphyxia treatment has always been a challenge in India due to imported devices which costs over Rs.

15 lakhs. MiraCradle breaks the affordability barrier at a price that is almost 1/10th of the devices from the developed countries.

"The unique feature of this device is its price point. Another advantage of MiraCradle is that it does not require continuous electricity supply to operate and is literally maintenance free, making it suitable for under-developed and developing countries" added Samit Jain.

MiraCradle was designed and developed in partnership with Christian Medical College, Vellore which undertook all clinical trials required for product approvals.

"MiraCradle will help India and under-developed and developing countries meet the Sustainable Development Goals set by United Nations with regard to Neonatal Mortality.

This is the world's first such affordable device for treatment of Birth Asphyxia in neonates," said Mr.
