Hailee Steinfeld to star in ‘Transformers’ spin-off ‘Bumblebee’

Los Angeles [USA], June 1 : 'True Grit' star Hailee Steinfeld is all geared up to be a part of the war of the machines.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Steinfeld is in negotiations to star in Paramount's 'Transformers' spin-off titled 'Bumblebee.' Plot details are still unknown, but it is known that Steinfeld will play a tomboy who also holds a job as a mechanic after school.

Travis Knight, previously known for directing stop-motion picture 'Kubo and the Two Strings,' is helming the project, while Christina Hodson ('Shut In') wrote the script.

The movie project is the first spin-off in the Transformers Cinematic Universe that will include prequels and offshoots from a line of movies that have generated over 3.7 billion USD worldwide.

'Bumblebee' is the yellow and black striped Autobot that appears as one of the main characters in the Transformers film series.

The movie is slated for a June 8, 2018 release. On a related note, the fifth movie of the 'Transformers' franchise 'The Last Knight,' which stars Mark Wahlberg, Isabella Moner and Josh Duhamel in important roles, is all set to hit the theatres on June 23.
