Rio de Janeiro, Aug 10 : Indian archer Bombayla Devi Laishram progressed through to the pre-quarters of the women's individual recurve event after defeating Chinese Taipei's Lin Shih-Chia 6-2 here at the Rio Olympics on Wednesday.
The 31-year-old, hailing from Manipur, produced a dominant performance in the first two sets but faltered slightly to lose the third set on day five of the competition in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro.
However, Bombayla maintained her composure under immense pressure to take the fourth set and the match 27-24, 27-24, 26-27, 28-26 at the Sambadrome venue.
She will next contest for a quarterfinal spot on Thursday. Earlier, Bombayla had claimed a 6-2 win over Austria's Laurence Baldauff in the round of 64..
