Washington D.C. [U.S.A.] Jul 8 : The United States will conduct its long-planned flight test of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD), an element of the nation's ballistic missile defense system within the next few days.
The exact date of the test is not yet disclosed by the US Defense Department Missile Defense Agency (MDA), who will conduct the test, reported CNN.
The THAAD is based at the Pacific Spaceport Complex Alaska in Kodiak, Alaska. As per reports, the test is not linked to North Korea's intercontinental ballistic missile launch, adding that the THAAD's system is designed to defend against those type of threats.
Designed to shoot down short, medium and intermediate ballistic missiles, each THAAD system is comprised of five major components.
