Chris Cornell’s daughter pays tribute to dad, Chester Bennington

Los Angeles [U.S.A.], August 5 : Toni Cornell, the 12-year-old daughter of late singer Chris Cornell, gave an emotional tribute to his father Chris Cornell and his best friend Chester Bennington by singing 'Hallelujah' with OneRepublic, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

"It's an honour to perform this for my dad and Chester and to sing for them," she shared. On what would have been Cornell's 53rd birthday, July 20, Bennington also died from suicide by hanging.

Linkin Park had been scheduled to perform in Central Park as part of GMA's Summer Concert Series. OneRepublic filled in for the band Friday, taking a detour from their ongoing nationwide tour to celebrate the legacy of Bennington and Cornell.

Ryan Tedder, the frontman of OneRepublic, noted, "We met Linkin Park early in our career and always looked up to them.

It's an honour to fill in for them." After the performance, Chester's wife Talinda Bennington thanked the band and Cornell's daughter for such a beautiful tribute.

She tweeted, "Thank you @RyanTedder @OneRepublic 4 honoring my husband Chester (and) dear pal Chris tmrw.Be still and you will feel them sing within you too." The 'Soundgarden' and 'Linkin Park' singers were close friends who had toured and performed together.
