New Delhi [India], August 8 : Continuing his tirade against the media outlets, U.S. President Donald Trump said that the 'fake news media' ignored the latest unanimous vote by the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) in favour of sanctions on North Korea.
"The Fake News Media will not talk about the importance of the United Nations Security Council's 15-0 vote in favor of sanctions on N.
Korea!" Trump tweeted. However, almost every major news outlet in the U.S. reported about the UNSC's unanimously passed resolution imposing new sanctions on North Korea. While Trump's tweet claims the "fake news media" did not cover the vote, almost every major news outlet reported at least one story on the North Korea decision.
In response to the launches of ballistic missiles of possible intercontinental range by North Korea, the United Nations Security Council on Saturday unanimously passed a resolution which will slap new sanctions on Pyongyang.
The 15-member body strongly condemned North Korea's ballistic missile launches on 3 July and 28 July, which the country has stated were of "intercontinental" range.
The Council moved to significantly strengthen the sanctions on North Korea, imposing a full ban on the export of coal, iron and iron ore from Pyongyang.
Previously these items could be exported for livelihood purposes, for a limited amount. The Council also prohibited countries from increasing the total number of work authorizations for North Korea nationals.
It banned new joint ventures or cooperative entities with North Korean entities or individuals as well as additional investments in existing joint ventures.
Trump once again attacked The New York Times and questioned as how much long will the newspaper's remain in business with its "big losses and massive unfunded liability." "How much longer will the failing nytimes, with its big losses and massive unfunded liability (and non-existent sources), remain in business?" Trump tweeted.
