UP: Akhilesh’s convoy passes toll plaza without paying tax

Barabanki (Uttar Pradesh) [India], Aug. 09 : Former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav's convoy of 175 cars passed toll plaza in Barabanki's Ahmadpur without paying toll tax.

Akhilesh was travelling to Faizabad to attend the statue unveiling programme of late Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Rajbali Yadav.

This is being seen as a brazen misuse of political power. Apart from certain dignitaries, the rest of the people come under the umbrella of toll tax payers. Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has stopped VIP culture in the country and banned use of red beacons on the vehicles of ministers, MLAs and MPs.

However, Yogi Adityanath led Uttar Pradesh Government in July issued a directive to provide separate toll-free lanes for MLAs and MPs at all toll plazas across the state, including the ones on national highways.
