Johannesburg [South Africa], Aug 26 : Nico Rosberg emerged as the fastest driver in the first practice session of the Belgian Grand Prix on Friday.
The German racer was 0.730 seconds quicker than second-place Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton in unusually hot morning conditions at iconic Spa Francorchamps circuit, Sport24 reported.
Ferrari driver Kimi Raikkonen finished third ahead of Sergio Perez of Force India and four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel.
Hamilton, who has won six of the past seven races and leads Rosberg by 19 points in the points table, will start the Sunday's race from the back of the grid after taking a grid penalty for having changed too many engine parts.
