Colombo, Aug.23 : Sri Lanka have called in batsman Angelo Perera as replacement for injured seamer Nuwan Pradeep for the remaining ODIs of the five-match series against Australia.
Earlier this month, Pradeep was ruled out of the ODI squad after suffering a hamstring problem in training ahead of the second Test against Australia.
Pradeep was one of only two specialist seamers in the squad, but the selectors have decided to replace him with middle-order batsman Perera.
It seems that Perera has got a place after displaying some really impressive outings with Sri Lanka A team in England, having notched up a total of 169 in four list A matches.
He also smashed a total of 450 first-class runs at an average of 40.90 in this year's Premier League Tournament.
Sri Lanka are currently trailing 1-0 in the ODI series following their opening match defeat by three wickets against Steve Smith-led side.
The two sides will next face each other at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Wednesday..
