Anupam Kher vades into Gurmehar Kaur controversy, Big B keeps away

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], Mar. 1 : Criticising the opposition parties for politicising the issue, Bollywood veteran Anupam Kher on Wednesday said political parties are raising the controversy surrounding the student of Lady Shri Ram (LSR) College Gurmehar Kaur to gain political mileage out of it.

Talking to media, the 61-year-old said, "Whatever the daughter of Army officer said means that nobody wants war.

Every soldier is here to protect our country at the border." "Her topic is being raised by giving a political angle to it.

Same faces, who have been raising and politicising the issues in the past, are taking political mileage from it.

Everybody is aware about these people and parties," Kher added. The actor further elaborated by saying that opposition parties are unable to digest the good job of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and they are finding new topics to fight and protest.

Amitabh Bachchan, on the other hand, has chosen not to comment on the issue. During the trailer launch of his upcoming film 'Sarkar 3', Big B said, "What I feel about this is my personal view, if I tell it to you it will become public." Gurmehar, the daughter of Kargil martyr Captain Mandeep Singh, sparked a controversy for her social media campaign against the ABVP following which she also received rape threats.

Clashes erupted last week after the ABVP students allegedly manhandled and thrashed students protesting the cancellation of an event at Ramjas College at which controversial JNU student Umar Khalid was scheduled to speak.

The ABVP will tomorrow be organising a peaceful demonstration in order to restore peace on the campus and to call for exclusion of the Left wing.
