Ayushmann Khurrana is on a roll at the box office and Bala, too, seems to be on course to become a big hit. Riding on positive reviews and good word of mouth from audiences and Ayushmann’s equity to deliver the best content at the box office, Bala opened to 10.15 crore on day 1. Bala beat Ayushmann’s personal best opening of 10.05 crores for Dream Girl. For a star whose two films have released back to back, this is a big feat.
Ayushmann says, “With Bala, we are sending out some really strong and powerful social messages in the most entertaining manner possible and I’m delighted that the film has instantly connected with audiences on day one. I only hope that the film entertains the whole of India because only this way we will be able to communicate everything that Bala is trying to say and spark a thought shift.”
The versatile actor who never fails to surprise with his choice of scripts and roles hails Bala’s script as precious. He says, “It’s one of my most precious scripts to date and I’m really happy with the love and adulation that our film is getting. I’m humbled with the response and delighted that I have again backed a film that has its heart at the right place.”
Ayushmann credits the entire team of Bala for the fantastic start. "I share this moment with my director, the supremely talented and intelligent Amar Kaushik, my producer Dinesh Vijan, my two leading ladies who really gave Bala a run for his money - Bhumi Pednekar and Yami Gautam, all the other fantastic cast members and the entire team of the film that believed in the vision and worked tirelessly to achieve it,” he says.

Getting roles chopped and being replaced is something very common among actors, especially for outsiders. In a recent interview, actress Isha Koppikar who has worked in films like Krishna Cottage, Rudraksh and Darna Mana Hai spoke how her Kaante director Sanjay Gupta cut her full-fledged role to just the item song 'Ishq Samundar'. The actress has also worked in several films in the south.
Isha Koppikar said that she had no one to guide her in the industry. When ‘Khallas’ happened, she got type-casted as some with a pretty face and can dance. Talking about Kaante, she said that she was offered several dance numbers at the time she did ‘Ishq Samundar’ but refused to be a part of those. She revealed that she was supposed to have a role in the film but it did not happen. Isha further said that she was informed that her role is that of Sanjay Dutt's girlfriend. Later, she was told that the length of the film was too long and so to shorten it they had to let go off her role. The actress feels that she was too naive and took people for their face value.
Being one of the victims of nepotism in Bollywood, Isha said that a lot of times she was replaced after the parents of star kids would call and take away the role. She also said that there were times when she would be replaced when she did not agree to get in the good books of her co-actor.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Isha will next be seen in Ankur Bhatia's Assi Nabbe Poorey Sau with Divyendu.

In the upcoming week, we will see speaker, Manoj Kumar, who shifted from his well-established career in banking to social sector and founded Naandi Foundation. Along with the Adivasis of Araku, Naandi developed not just an organically grown, global award-winning brand, called Araku Coffee, but also a successful agricultural model that can be replicated across the country. Manoj even invited one of his workers, Sundarama along with his son who gifted her Araku Coffee plant to Shah Rukh Khan. He said, “I love coffee. One cup of coffee in the morning keeps me going through the day.”
Sundarama, is the coffee estate owner from Araku, who only communicated in her local language. She told everyone about the gift she bought for King Khan. To everyone’s surprise, Shah Rukh Khan translated everything she said in Telugu on his own and responded back to her that made her smile.
Shah Rukh Khan even expressed his wish to take the beautiful woman and his child for dinner to make them feel comfortable in an unknown city.

The audience seems to love the film's humour, the underlying messages as well as the actors' performances. It also stars Yami Gautam in a pivotal character, and has got a strong opening day, minting around Rs 10 crore. Let's see whether it manages to go strong in the week to come!
