Be part energy efficiency revolution, Goyal says in London

London (United Kingdom), May 13 : Union Minister of State for Power Piyush Goyal on Saturday launched the Ujala Scheme of energy efficient LED bulbs in London.

He asked everyone to be a part of this revolution in energy efficiency. "All should become ambassadors of this revolution on energy efficiency become evangelists who will take this message far and wide," he said.

"This is a great business opportunity that I see here and simultaneously we all can move towards sustainable lifestyle," he said.

Emphasizing on sustainable life styles, he said, "In the UK we could engage with large consumers like hotels, supermarkets and industries for adopting this initiative, and, I'm sure that with a zero cost zero investment models, many will come forward for it." Talking about the scenario in India, he said, "If India moves towards 100 percent LED lighting we will reduce almost 79 million tons of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.

This will also reduce the electricity bills of people." He added, "India has been able to replace 560 million old bulbs in two years.

By using LED bulbs, one can contribute in their way to overcome global warming." Goyal is, leading a business delegation for the India-UK Roundtable on Energy.
