BJP’s victory in UP made construction of Ram Temple easier: Swamy

New Delhi [India], Mar. 11 : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Subramanian Swamy on Saturday said the saffron party's overwhelming victory in Uttar Pradesh has made it easy for construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya as now both the state as well as the Centre will support this cause.

Swamy said that Ram Temple was always an important issue, adding the matter was raised several times in the last few phase of campaigning in Uttar Pradesh.

"I have always said to the Sunni Waqf Board that if they want they can build Masjid on the coast of river Sarayu, but Ram Temple will be constructed where it has to.

We are not asking them to construct all the temples destructed by the Muslims. The victory has made it easy to build the temple in Ayodhya. Now, we have support from the state as well the Centre," Swamy told ANI. Swamy further said Uttar Pradesh is one of the most important states of India, adding the BJP's historic victory will affect the political system of the country.

"Even after the party faced so much criticism post demonetisation drive, we got overwhelming response.

This had made our victory for another ten years easier," he said. Meanwhile, another BJP leader Shrikant Sharma while giving credit to Prime Minister Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah said this victory will bring relief for the people of Uttar Pradesh from the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and the Samajwadi Party.

"Now, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's welfare scheme will reach the poor people of the state," he told ANI.

The early trends in the assembly election show the BJP leading in 324 seats in Uttar Pradesh, the Congress-Samajwadi Party alliance leading in 57 seats while Mayawati-led Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP) ahead in 19 seats.

Uttar Pradesh went to polls in seven phases in the months of February and March. A total of 4,854 candidates are in fray for 403 assembly constituencies..
