Islamabad, Aug. 18 : Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Khan Zehri on Thursday declared Brahamdagh Bugti, a traitor to the nation for thanking Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for making references to Pakistan's mistreatment of Balochistan and the atrocities meted out to the people in the region.
"By saluting Modi, Bugti has proved that he is a traitor. Bugti saluted the man who is responsible for the bloodshed in Balochistan," the Express Tribune quoted Zehri, as saying.
The self-exiled Baloch Republican Army (BRA) leader had hailed Prime Minister Modi for mentioning Balochistan in his Independence Day speech on Monday.
Bugti said, "I thank the Indian Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi sahab for speaking about the Balochistan problem. I thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi sahab on behalf of the whole Baloch nation. And we hope that the Indian government and Indian media and whole Indian nation will not only raise voices for Baloch nation but also strive to help practically the Baloch independence movement." Zehri had earlier on Sunday at an event held in connection with the nation's Independence Day claimed that the Indian Intelligence agency Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) and other enemies of the country were involved in funding militants to disrupt peace and stability in Balochistan.
On Indian Prime Minister's statement, Zehri said that there was a huge difference between the situation in Kashmir and Balochistan.
Prime Minister Modi while addressing the nation on the occasion of 70th Independence Day said he was grateful to the Baloch people for reaching out to him.
"People of Balochistan,Gilgit and PoK have thanked me a lot in past few days, I am grateful to them," Prime Minister Modi said.
"This is the example of our humanitarian approach, but there are some countries who glorify terrorists.
To the youth who have taken up guns, I urge them to return to their parents and shun violence," he added.
