After Inshallah was shelved, the fans were eagerly waiting for the news of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next project. The filmmaker, then, announced Gangubai Kathiawadi with Alia Bhatt as the lead actress. With that being said, the prep for the film has begun and Alia Bhatt will undertake diction lessons for her role.
Gagubai Kathiawadi will have Alia Bhatt take over the titular role as the madam of the brothels in Kamathipura in the 1960s. She was rumoured to be a drug peddler and had gangsters as her clients in brothels. Since Bhansali is known to be very passionate about his prep for films, he has reached out to Mumbai’s Gujarati theatre personalities including actors Manoj Joshi and Supriya Pathak to help him in the search for dialect coaches for Alia. Alia will be shooting the film simultaneously while undertaking her month-long diction class.
Though Alia will speak in the dialect for only a few portions of the film, Bhansali wants her to perfect it. The dialect will have strong Sindh influence since the region had Kathis and Rajputs from present-day Rajasthan and Sindh.
Titled Gangubai Kathiawadi, Gangubai, remembered as The Madam Of Kamathipura in the pages of history, was pushed into prostitution at an early age, and later became an extremely influential pimp with numerous ferocious gangsters as her client. The film will release on 11th September 2020.

The trailer of the new Kartik Aaryan comedy Pati Patni Aur Woh has evoked a mixed response. But the one dialogue that has the social media uniformly up in arms has Kartik Aaryan whining and complaining about the volume of sex in his married life.
Kartik says, "Biwi se sex maang lein, toh hum bhikaari. Biwi ko sex mana kar dein, toh hum atyachaari aur kisi tarah jugaad laga ke uss se sex haasil kar lein na toh balaatkaari bhi hum hain." (If we ask the wife for sex, we are beggars. If we say no to the wife for sex we are tormentors and if somehow we manage to get sex from her we are rapists).
The shockingly insensitive remarks have not gone down well with the public. A section of Twitter users see this as an endorsement of marital rape. This writer tried getting in touch with Kartik and the film’s director who remained unavailable for comment.
However a source from the production team feels the dialogue will have to go. “Since Kartik Aaryan’s monologue in Pyaar Ka Punchnaama was a hit they thought of doing another one this time and got carried away. The offensive monologue will be edited out of the film.”

The fans have been eagerly waiting for the third installment of Munna Bhai to go on floor so that they can see their favourites – Munna and Circuit aka Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi back on the big screen, together. While the film is yet to be made, it seems like the fan favourites Sanjay and Arshad are reuniting for another film.
They will start working on a film next year which is being made by Sajid-Farhad. The project is likely to go on the floor by March or April 2020. Arshad said that they will probably head to Budapest for the first schedule. Speaking of the film, Arshad revealed that Sanjay Dutt plays a blind don in the film and he is his eyes. The challenging part of the film is that no one can know that the don is blind and even Arshad’s character can’t tell anyone. He is basically guiding Sanjay throughout the film. Arshad said that it is quite a fun script.
Arshad Warsi, meanwhile, is promoting his upcoming comedy Pagalpanti which is helmed by Anees Bazmee. The film is scheduled for November 22 release.

The director who was shooting outside the city limits of Mumbai took to Twitter and narrated how the shoot of the film was disrupted. According to his tweet, Gupta was shooting just outside Mumbai with around 450 junior artistes and a crew of over 250 people.
Sanjay Gupta said that the disruptor was the leader of a local political party. He wrote, "In the 80's & early 90's when we shot outside city limits invariably the local Dada, Bhai or goon would land up, disrupt shoot & demand his share. Same thing happened today on location of #MumbaiSaga only this time the goon was a political leader with cronies from his party."

Gupta said that the politician demanded a photo op with the stars and cash payment for his permission. "We refused to give in to his ridiculous demands which included that he should break the coconut before we start shooting, photo op with the stars & eventually cash payment for his 'permission'. We refused & a few hours later the local cops arrived to shut us down," he further wrote.

However, the crew had finished shooting the main scene by then. So, they packed up and left the place. "Fortunately for us we had finished filming the main scene. We had around 450 Jr Artists & a crew of 250 plus. Can you imagine the loss we would have to face had we not finished in time? We packed up, cut our losses & left. Don't think I'll ever shoot in that place again. Sad!" Sanjay Gupta concludes.

Nearly three years after the demise of the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, J Jayalalithaa, there are almost five biopics in the making on the life of the legendary actor-politician. Recently, directors Gautam Vasudev Menon and AL Vijay announced that a web series and a feature film are in the works respectively.
However, the makers seem to have a hit a roadblock as Jayalalithaa's niece, Deepa Jayakumar, filed a plea seeking that the directors should get the consent of the family as the film portrays the private life of Jayalalithaa.
As per reports, after hearing the pleas, Madras High Court sent a notice to director Gautam Menon who is directing a web series on the politician's life starring Ramya Krishnan. A notice has also been sent to director AL Vijay who is directing a film titled Thalaivi (starring Kangana Ranaut) in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi. Also, director Vishnuvardhan who is in the process to shoot a biopic of Jayalalithaa is also requested to respond to the notice.
On the other hand, when the project Thalaivi was announced this year, director AL Vijay and the producer of the film had issued a statement saying that they have received a NOC from Deepak, nephew of late Jayalalithaa and brother of Deepa Jayakumar.
Director Priyadarshini is also helming a film on J Jayalalithaa which features Nithya Menon playing the titular role. It is unclear whether Priyadarshini has been issued a notice or not.

Alia Bhatt is on a high. She has signed some good films which include Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra, Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Gangubai Kathiawadi, Mahesh Bhatt’s Sadak 2 and her debut in Telugu film industry with SS Rajamouli's RRR. In interviews earlier this year, the actress had informed that eventually Hollywood would be her next destination soon but we have come to know that the actress is already in the posh locale of Beverly Hills at Los Angeles scouting for an international celebrity manager. Alia is entering Hollywood at a relatively younger age than Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Recently, Huma Qureshi too made a Hollywood foray with Zack Snyder's Army of the Dead.
A trade source says, “Alia’s entry into Hollywood seems sooner than later. It’s all very hush-hush at the moment, though she has been spotted at Beverly Hill restaurants in Los Angeles on social media posts. While it seems that the actress is holidaying in LA with her best friend Akansha Ranjan Kapoor, apparently, Alia is there in search of an international celebrity agent. Aishwarya Rai and Bipasha Basu had signed Simone Sheffield, while Priyanka Chopra has Anjula Acharia. From Aishwarya, Bipasha, Priyanka and Deepika Padukone – all have had celebrity managers or agents in Hollywood, who are based in Los Angeles, as one needs people there to keep the stars updated on international castings and auditions. Alia is also an accomplished singer like Priyanka so that is an added bonus if she is required to cut a single or an album.”
According to the source, “It will be a couple of weeks before SLB’s Gangubai Kathiawadi goes on floor and as Alia had time on her hand, she flew down with Vivek Kamath of Matrix, to look for an international agent in Hollywood. Matrix handles Alia’s work in India and is one of India's leading celebrity management firms and apparently, Vivek is in LA negotiating with the agents on Alia’s behalf.”
The source adds that like Priyanka and Deepika, Alia too will find a balance between Hollywood and Bollywood movies. “Alia is very young and it is the right age to explore the international movie scene now. Indian actors are getting a variety of roles today. She is also extremely talented who has an exciting bouquet of Indian films so she is sure to flourish in both the film industries. Alia shot for another schedule of Sadak 2 before she left for LA. She will return to shoot for Bhansali’s movie now mid-November once the sets are up in Film City in Mumbai.”
