There has been a lot of reporting, false as it turns out be, regarding the accident at the Bachchans’ Diwali party where Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s publicist was injured when her inflammable clothes caught fire.
According to reports that were widely circulated on the day after Diwali, Aishwarya’s publicist was rescued from a catastrophic accident by none other than Shah Rukh Khan who rushed to the lady’s rescue and doused the fire.
However a very prominent guest at the Bachchan bash who was a first-hand witness to what transpired says Shah Rukh was nowhere in the picture. “Archana Sadanand (Aishwarya’s publicist) was walking down the stairs when her dupatta caught fire in a deeya. In no time at all her clothes were aflame. Everyone was too stunned to do anything. It was Aishwarya who rushed and tore away the burning portion of Archana’s dupatta,” says the eyewitness.
We wonder where Shah Rukh Khan came into the picture, and who decided to make him the hero of the story. Incidentally Archana Sadanand is still in the hospital recovering from her burn injuries. Luckily her face did not get singed.

We had reported that Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who recently announced Baiju Bawra, had offered the title role to his favourite Ranveer Singh. Now, in a latest development, we have heard that after the talks with Ranveer and the filmmaker fell through, Bhansali had approached his Guzaarish actor, Hrithik Roshan, to play the classical singer Baiju Bawra. After giving some deliberation to the thought (and SLB’s narration), Hrithik has agreed to do the film. The duo will reunite after nine years as Guzaarish released in 2010.
Says a trade source, “Few know that Hrithik and the filmmaker have been holding meetings for the last few days. SLB loved the actor's performances in Super 30 and War and reached out to him post his last release. Hrithik loves Bhansali's work and is keen to work in a period drama again. Till now Hrithik had given his nod only to his father Rakesh Roshan’s superhero action drama, Krrish 4, but he loved Bhansali’s script. In a hush-hush development that happened on Saturday night (November 2) at the filmmaker’s home, Hrithik agreed to do Baiju Bawra. The formal signing will take place within the next few days along with a proper announcement.”
The source adds that apparently, talks with Ranveer and the acclaimed filmmaker fell through when date issues arose and that Ranveer was also doing another period drama. “Ranveer will be busy shooting for another period drama, Takht, directed by Karan Johar, which itself requires a lot of prep and is based during the Mughal era. Baiju Bawra is a pure musical and a dramatized version of the story of the uniquely talented classical singer Baiju Bawra who defeated the legendary musician Tansen, at a musical duel, held in the court of Mughal Emperor Akbar. While the filmmaker had offered the lead and title role of the young Baiju Bawra to Ranveer Singh, apparently things didn’t work out as Ranveer didn’t have dates next year. Baiju is a passionate, emotional, deeply vengeful and yet intensely romantic character and Ranveer needs a lot of prep before every role. The filmmaker also requires a lot of time from his actors before and during the shoot and Ranveer’s date diary is choc-a-bloc as of now with Takht and YRF’s Jayeshbhai Jordaar. There’s speculation too that Ranveer may make a surprise appearance in Rohit Shetty’s next part of the Golmaal franchise which rolls next year.”
Baiju Bawra will start later next year after SLB’s next Gangubai Kathiawadi, starring Alia Bhatt, is complete and Krrish 4 too. The source adds that as the movie is about a young and extremely talented dhrupad singer-composer by the same name, Hrithik too would need to prep a lot for the role. “He would require a certain amount of training and knowledge as a singer and musician as Baiju was called bawra because of his deep love for classical music. Baiju Bawra, challenged composer, musician and Hindustani classical vocalist Tansen, to a singing duel, to avenge the death of his musician father, at the court of Mughal Emperor Akbar. When Tansen's sentries tries to stop Baiju's father from singing, and he dies in the struggle, he makes the young Baiju promise to take revenge against Tansen. Apparently, Priyanka Chopra has been approached to play Baiju’s romantic interest. She holds an edge as she’s an internationally acclaimed singer in her own right.”
Tansen was known as one of the Navratnas or Nine Jewels of Mughal Emperor Akbar’s court. Baiju won the competition against Tansen and impressed Akbar too. After his father’s death, Baiju met his teacher Swami Haridas, and trained in a gurukula. He later became one of the court musicians of Maan Singh Tomar of Gwalior after he left the court of the Raja of Chanderi. Then he became of the musicians of Raja Mansingh Tomar’s court. Legends say that Baiju Bawra could melt stone, light oil lamps by singing Raag Deepak, create rain by singing the raags Megh, Megh Malhar, or Gaud Malhar and bloom flowers by singing raga Bahar.

After the massive success of the popular track ‘Teri Mitti’ earlier this year from Akshay Kumar's historical epic Kesari, the actor collaborates with Punjabi singer B Praak yet again for his first-ever music video. The song titled ‘Fillhal’ is written by lyricist Jaani.
Talking about this collaboration, Akshay says, “Having experienced the magic of B Praak’s voice firsthand with ‘Teri Mitti’ from my film Kesari, there was not much needed to convince me to come onboard for ‘Fillhal’. And to top it off the lyrics are so beautiful, it’s impossible to not feel anything. When I met with the lyricist, Jaani he told me it’s his best-written song till date and I couldn’t agree more. This brilliant combination of a soulful voice and lyrics to match got me to make my music video debut.”
The music video also featuring Punjabi actor Ammy Virk and actress Nupur Sanon is a heart-wrenching love ballad.

Dinesh Vijan has given some amazing films to the industry in the past few years including Badlapur, Hindi Medium, and Stree. With Ayushmann Khurrana starrer Bala releasing on November 7, Dinesh Vijan has decided to open up about being charged with plagiarism by the makers of Ujda Chaman. With both the films revolving around a similar concept, there initially was a tough fight regarding the release dates of the film until the makers of Bala decided to stick to their previously planned release dates.
Even though the charges were later dropped, he chose to remain silent over the issue. In an interview with a leading tabloid, he opened up about the accusations saying that with only three weeks left for the film, at that point he just wanted to go through with his film without any issues. He also said that when the film releases, the audience will see why Bala is an original concept.
Speaking further about Sara Ali Khan and Kartik Aaryan for Love Aaj Kal sequel, tentatively titled as Aaj Kal, Dinesh revealed he had no clue about the two dating each other and since they’re strong actors, he has no issues about the film promotions faltering. Calling director Imtiaz Ali the master of heartbreaks, he feels releasing the film on Valentine’s Day next year is the right thing to do and is quite confident about the project.
Do you think Kartik Aaryan and Sara Ali Khan’s split might affect the film’s post-production? Be sure to let us know in the comments.

After completing close to a year with Zero’s release, Shah Rukh Khan has still not confirmed his next project. However, there are reports doing rounds that suggest that he will soon be collaborating with the South director, Atlee Kumar. While his fans were awaiting an official announcement on his birthday, November 2, there have been no confirmations from the superstar’s end.
His next is widely speculated to be titled Sanki, however, producer Sajid Nadiadwala has already registered the name with the Film Producers Guild Of India a while ago. Salman Khan had suggested Sanki as the title for his film Kick; however, the makers decided to stick with the latter since it’s the remake of a namesake Telugu movie. A source close to the producer said that Sajid Nadiadwala has the copyright to the title and the script for the same is ready. If any other producer or filmmaker wishes to use the title, they will have to get an NOC from Sajid and it is also said that three other producers are already lining up for the title.
The official announcement for Sanki will be made post-Christmas this year.

Producer Ronnie Screwvala ended 2018 on a high as Kedarnath, produced by his banner RSVP, emerged as a huge commercial and critical success. 2019 started on an even better note as Uri -The Surgical Strike shocked one and all with its Rs 245.36 crore collections. But from here on, the track record of RSVP took a beating. The two releases of March 2019, Sonchiriya and Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota, bombed miserably at the ticket window. Last month, The Sky Is Pink was acclaimed critically but that couldn’t translate into healthy box office numbers.
Bhangra Paa Le, starring Vicky Kaushal’s brother Sunny Kaushik along with Rukshar Dhillon, and the directorial debut of Ramesh Taurani’s daughter Sneha was supposed to be Ronnie Screwvala’s final release of the year. Earlier scheduled to release on November 1, it was pushed to November 15. However, it has now come to light that it won’t release in cinemas at all. The dance flick will be directly aired on Netflix, on November 14, a day before it was to come out in cinemas.
A source close to the project says, “Usually, one believes that if a film is directly releasing on OTT, then it might be an awful film. But that’s not the case with Bhangra Paa Le. It has shaped up well and the makers are happy with the product. However, they realize that releasing it in cinemas and spending on print and other costs will add to the budget. The buzz isn’t that strong and there are too many releases this month, which can affect its prospects. Also, the performance of The Sky Is Pink was disheartening despite the presence of an actor like Priyanka Chopra. As a result, when they got a good deal from Netflix, they went ahead with it.”
Earlier this year, Ronnie Screwvala had raised the issue of paying Virtual Print Fee (VPF) by the producers to multiplex chains, a practise which he called unfair and discriminatory. He claimed that only Bollywood films are expected to shell out VPF while Hollywood films are exempted. The tussle with multiplexes got so ugly that Inox refused to release Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota in its properties. In a notice sent by Ronnie to Competition Commission of India, the veteran producer had alleged that RSVP’s first film, Love Per Square Foot, starring Vicky Kaushal and Angira Dhar, was also streamed directly on Netflix as the VPF costs would have doubled the film’s budget due to which recovery would have been a near impossible talk.
We tried contacting Ronnie Screwvala to confirm whether one of the decisions to bypass theatrical release for Bhangra Paa Le was the VPF factor but he was unavailable for comment.
The trend of releasing films directly on OTT has become common and is expected to grow in 2020. Two days back, Karan Johar unveiled his long-delayed film Drive, starring Sushant Singh Rajput and Jacqueline Fernandez, directly on Netflix, without releasing it in cinemas at all.
