Dubai [UAE], Mar.2 : Batsman Chirag Suri, who became the first UAE player to be picked in the Indian Premier League (IPL) last month, has been left out of the 14-member squad for first ODI of the two-match series against Ireland beginning March 2 at the ICC Academy Ground in Dubai.
The 22-year-old, who made his last appearance for UAE during a List A match against England Lions in December, was a part of the national squad in the Tri-nation ODI series against Hong Kong and Scotland in January but he did not featured in any game.
Suri, who is yet to make an ODI or a T20I appearance for UAE, was bought by Gujarat Lions for his base price of Rs.
10 lakh in IPL player's auction on February 20, ESPNcricinfo reported. While wicketkeeper-batsman Saqlain Haider and Usman Mushtaq have also been dropped, batsmen Rameez Shahzad and Laxman Sreekumar have earned a recall for the upcoming series.
Rohan Mustafa has been named to lead the ODI squad, with Shaiman Anwar being called as vice-captain. The UAE squad is as follows: Rohan Mustafa (capt), Adnan Mufti, Ahmed Raza, Amjad Javed, Ghulam Shabber, Imran Haider, Mohammad Naveed, Mohammad Qasim, Muhammad Usman, Qadeer Ahmed, Shaiman Anwar (vice-capt), Zahoor Khan, Rameez Shahzad, Laxman Sreekumar.
