Congress, TMC and BJD give notice in RS on different types of Rs. 500 notes

New Delhi [India], Aug 9 : The Congress Party, Trinamool Congress and the Bahujan Janata Dal on Wednesday gave notice in the Rajya Sabha on different designs and shapes of Rs.

500 notes. On Tuesday, Congress, supported by TMC and JD(U), forced four adjournments of the proceedings in the Rajya Sabha over what it called as "biggest scam of this century" in the printing of two different kinds of 500 and 2000 rupee notes.

Slogan-shouting Congress members trooped into the well even as Leader of the House. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, however, accused the Congress of making irresponsible statements, and claimed that the party was misuing the Zero Hour.

He later said he would verify the authenticity of the notes. "Given such a big print run there can be an odd case of a currency note being slightly bigger or not.".
