Los Angeles [USA], August 9 : Legendary talk show host David Letterman is returning to the small screen.and he intends to do it with a bang! According to The Hollywood Reporter, two years after retiring from 'The Late Show', David Letterman will return to television screens, fronting a new talk show for the streaming service Netflix.

Six hour-long episodes have been commissioned, each of which will see Letterman conduct single, pre-recorded interviews with a singular guest.

When asked, what made him return to TV, he said, "About six months ago I was polishing my collection of buffalo head nickels and I thought, 'Geez, there must be something else I can do with my life.

The need to pursue something else and the way that this was made available as a possibility was irresistible, honestly." The 70-year-old talk show host also revealed that he wants to interview North Korean leader Kim Jong-un for the new series.

"I want to talk to this [North Korea leader] Kim Jong-un because I see now where he's just miniaturized a nuclear weapon that he's going to put on his rockets.

I'd like to talk to this guy because, OK, the haircut. We get all of that. But honestly, what does he want? They have a missile they think can hit Chicago - what's he pissed off at Chicago about? Are we at war with this guy? We put sanctions on him, he gets more pissed off," shared Letterman.

Earlier, Netflix also showed excitement about the project and issued a statement, which read, "Just meeting David Letterman was a thrill; imagine how exciting it is for me to announce that we will be working together." Adding, "David Letterman is a true television icon, and I can't wait to see him out in the wild, out from behind the desk and interviewing the people he finds most interesting.

We'll have to see if he keeps the beard." Letterman was the longest-serving late-night host in US history, fronting over 6,000 episodes across both NBC's 'Late Night' and CBS' 'The Late Show'.
