New Delhi [India], Mar.28 : Making a bold move, India's non-playing captain Mahesh Bhupathi has picked four young players in the squad, while the two of the senior-most players - Leander Paes and Rohan Bopanna - have been put in the reserve category for the Davis Cup tie against Uzbekistan.
The chairman of the All India Tennis Association (AITA) selection committee in consultation with Bhupathi selected Ramkumar Ramanathan, Yuki Bhambri , Prajnesh Gunneswaran and N Sriram Balaji in the Indian squad for the tie scheduled from April 7 to April 9 in Bengaluru.
Meanwhile, Vishnu Vardhan has also been added as practice partner in the team besides the two juniors as hitting partners.
Paes and Bopanna have not done pretty well in the recent past. The duo bowed out in the opening round of the Indian Wells tournament and also made a first-match exit in the Challenger event in Irving, Texas.
