New Delhi [India], Aug.31 : The Delhi High Court on Wednesday directed the Delhi Government to consider enhancing the salary of the Delhi Police officials to make it at par with the Chandigarh Police.
Disposing of a writ petition by Constable Babu Lal Mitharwal, a bench comprising of Justices G.S Sistani and I.S Mehta asked the Delhi Government to consider the petitioner's claim based on his right to 'equal pay for equal work' and pass a reasoned order within three months.
The petitioner can file a revised representation within one month. Mitharwal had approached the High Court after CAT turned down his plea. He cited a number of judgments, including one in which the Supreme Court directed pay parity to an Assam Rifles personnel with his counterparts in CRPF and the BSF.
