New Delhi, Sep 25 : Months after the national capital saw one of the worst bloodbaths in its North-east district after the protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the National Register for Citizens (NRC), the Delhi Police in its fresh charge sheet has claimed that a three layer strategy was used to propagate violence in the national capital in order to bring the Modi regime "on its knees".
As per the disclosures made by 'Pinjra Tod' member and one of the accused persons, Natasha Narwal, it was decided that the government would be brought to its knees in three major steps.
As per the police charge sheet, Narwal disclosed that while the first step would be to protest against the CAA, the next step would be by blocking the roads, i.e., 'chakka jam' and finally the last and final step would be riots.
The police claims that Natasha in her statements has said that she and her group (Pinjra Tod) was assigned North-east Delhi for the protests and they were being supervised by Meeran Haider and Jamia Coordination Committee (JCC) member Safoora Zargar.
Pursuant to this, from January 5 Natasha along with Devangana Kalita, Proma Roy and others began a protest at Fruit Mandi in North-east Delhi's Seelampur.
It is further disclosed by Narwal that Professor Apoorvanand had informed them that the JCC members were planning for riots in Delhi in the garb of protests.
Narwal disclosed that the professor had said that the face of protest should be peaceful, but the ulterior motive must be to start riots anyway.
"We had asked the local ladies to collect 'lathis', glass bottles, stones, acid and red chilli powder for their protection as we knew that in any case the same shall be used for riots," disclosed Natasha as per the charge sheet filed by the Delhi Police.
On February 17, Professor Apoorvanand asked the Pinjra Tod members to organize a meeting at Chand Bagh and it was decided that chakka jam (road blocking) would be done on February 22.
A candle march was organized and a large number of women gathered at Jafrabad metro station and sat there.
The chakka jam message was made viral by the JCC WhatsApp group on that day, and a message to reach Chand Bagh was also flashed, says Natasha in her disclosure statement mentioned in the fresh charge sheet filed by the Delhi Police.
As per the charge sheet, Natasha has also disclosed that different sites of North-east Delhi were being monitored by Professor Apoorvanand and JCC members while Chand Bagh, Seelampur, Jafrabad, Khureji were being controlled by Faizan and Hasib-ul and other girls of PinjaraTod.
On February 23, the Bhim Army led by Chander Shekhar Azad called for a chakka jam.
The JCC had decided to block the road in Chand Bagh during this chakka jam. As per the disclosures made by Narwal, it was conspired that due to this the 'Hindu's will get stuck' and a tension would mount.
The fresh charge sheet, which runs into about 17,000 pages, was filed in FIR 59/2020.
The FIR invokes the Unlawful Prevention Activities Act (UAPA) against students and activists, including Umar Khalid, a former JNU student activist, who is referred to as the main accused in the case.
