Panaji, Aug 21 : Former Goa Chief Minister and Congress MLA Ravi Naik on Friday tested positive for Covid-19, an official said.
Naik is the second former Chief Minister and the fifth state legislator to test positive for coronavirus.
Earlier, on Thursday, former Chief Minister Churchill Alemao, a sitting Naitonalist Congress Party MLA and his wife were admitted to a private hospital after they tested positive for the virus.
BJP MLA Nilkanth Halarnkar, former Deputy Chief Minister and Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party MLA Sudin Dhavalikar had also contracted the infection earlier this week.
Another BJP MLA, Clafasio Dias, who was the first MLA to test positive for Covid-19 last month, was hospitalised for more than two weeks, before he tested negative and was subsequently discharged on August 9.
Union Minister of State for AYUSH and Defence Shripad Naik is currently admitted to a private hospital, after he was found Covid positive earlier this week.
His condition is said to be stable now, according to Health Minister Vishwajit Rane.
