London [England], Aug 26 : Former France international Thierry Henry has been appointed as assistant coach of the Belgium national football team.
39-year-old Henry, who has previously played with Arsenal and Barcelona, will team up with new Belgium manager Roberto Martinez as his "second assistant".
As an international player, he won the 1998 World Cup and Euro 2000 with France. Reflecting on the development, Belgium's executive sports director Chris Van Puyvelde announced that Martinez's assistant coach will be Graeme Jones, while Henry will be his second assistant coach, the Mirror reported.
Welcoming the latest signing, Martinez remarked that Henry had been in the situation to change the spirit into winning, adding that he would do his job to the best of his ability.
