Global community urged to reject Israel’s racist law

Hyderabad, Oct 27 : Palestinian ambassador to India, Adnan Abu Alhaija, on Saturday called upon the international community to reject and condemn Israel's racist law that denies the connection of Palestinians to their historic homeland.

Known as the Nation-State Law of the Jewish People, the law also dismisses rights of Palestinian people, their history and heritage, he told reporters.

The legislation passed recently also rejects the United Nations resolutions relevant to the Palestine question and the agreements concluded with Israel.

He said that the current situation in Palestine is like apartheid that once existed in South Africa.

The legislation lays down that Israel is the historic homeland of the Jewish people and that they have an exclusive right to national self-determination in it.

"Israel is continuing its atrocities on women, children and Palestinian people, depriving them of their own rights and their own land," said the ambassador.

"Israel is in continuous violation of the international law and elevating human suffering and devastation by its continued aggression on the Palestinian people.

The Palestinian Bedouin community is the worst affected these days due to these violations", he added.

Abu Alhaija said that Israel is targeting Khan Al Ahmar as it is located in the planned area of the E-1 settlement, whose construction would irreversibly and permanently divide the occupied West Bank into north and south as well as sever all geographic connection to Jerusalem.

"The colonial project covers about 12,000 acres of illegally appropriated Palestinian land.

Israel's occupation of the same will impede the establishment of a Palestinian state with territorial continuity," he added.

Indo Arab League Chairman Syed Vicaruddin said India had always been a staunch supporter of Palestine.

He pointed out that "176 out of 193 UN members called for the Palestinian statehood."

"India does not recognize Israel's unilateral annexation of East Jerusalem, and stands with the international community in support of the creation of a sovereign, independent, Palestinian State, along the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital," he said.

The Hyderabad-based NGO will organize an all-party meeting to condemn the continued atrocities in Palestine and pledge its support for Palestinian independence, said Vicaruddin.
