Washington D.C. [USA] Sept. 3 : The penultimate season of Game of Thrones will see Oscar winner Jim Broadbent in its opening episode.
The fantasy hit has signed the 67-year-old British actor for the eagerly anticipated penultimate season, reports Entertainment Weekly, although what role he is playing is not known yet.
What has been known is the fact that Broadbent's role is "significant." The spoiler-averse GoT team doesn't want to say anything yet about who the actor is playing on the series.
Broadbent has starred in many popular films like Time Bandits, Brazil and Bridget Jones's Diary including his Emmy-nominated title role on the series Longford and the Harry Potter franchise.
Season 7 of Game of Thrones has begun its production picking Northern Ireland, Spain and Iceland for its shoot.
The show is reported to have only seven episodes. The show is also leading the Emmy nominations with 23 prime-time Emmy awards..
