New Delhi [India], Sep 29 : Communication Minister Manoj Sinha on Thursday stated that the roll out of telecom network in the difficult left-wing extremism affected areas in ten states as part of a major initiative to set up good communication network within a record time has been completed by the government of India.
The communication minister declared the completion conferring the certificate to Vihaan Networks Limited (VNL), which is a major shareholder of the project, which has implemented the telecom network in a record time of less than 18 months.
VNL provided the telecom solution for the entire project that was also based on green technology through solar power to provide uninterrupted energy source.
The Public-Private Partnership project was completed despite enormous risks and represents a success story of true grit and perseverance.
"India has the second largest mobile subscriber base in the world. The government has fast-tracked reforms in the telecom sector and continues to be proactive in resonating the union government's vision of 'Make in India and Digital India'.
VNL has been a key contributor to this success who have completed this project in record time, those involved in the award felicitation are the leaders who are establishing tomorrow's avenues of telecom sector," said CMD-BSNL, Anupam Shrivastava.
The project is part of the Pragati Programme of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to tackle the left-wing extremism problem in 10 states namely Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal where roll out was executed in extremely difficult and dangerous terrain.
"We are proud to be contributing to national cause and this infrastructure erection takes top priority over and above anything else.
Keeping in mind the paucity of the resources and accessibility issues, the towers are being activated through deployment of solar technology and the size of the project is the biggest in the world," said Chairman and MD, Vihaan Networks Limited, Rajiv Mehrotra.
Thus, the liberal and reformist policy to integrate the rural and urban space have been instrumental along with strong consumer demand in the rapid growth in the Indian telecom sector.
The establishment of mobile services would augment public communication facilities in backward regions and also provide a platform for mobile services including m-commerce, mobile based information dissemination and easy access to governance and policing.
