New Delhi, Aug 2 : As many as 2.16 crore bogus ration cards and around 13 thousand crore rupees, which would have otherwise been diverted, has been detected by the government.
Replying to supplementaries in the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Consumer Affairs C.R Chaudhary said that about 60 percent of the ration cards have been linked with Aadhaar in 34 states and Union Territories.
He said the amount saved from the bogus cards would now go to the beneficiaries. The Minister also said that the government has completed digitisation of ration cards. The Centre provides 75 percent share of the corpus fund and the rest is taken care of by the state. In case of special category states/union territories, the funding ratio is 90:10..
