Chandigarh, Jan 5 : The Haryana government On Friday said it is setting up a project in the state's Karnal in which compressed natural gas (CNG) would be produced through garbage and other waste and would be further used to generate electricity.
It will start operation on January 15.
The project would solve the problem of stubble burning and would also be beneficial in management of waste of the local municipal corporation and horticulture, an official said.
A sum of Rs 1 crore has been spent on this project by the Municipal Corporation of Karnal.
This is a unique project in the country and such project would also be started in other districts of the state, a government spokesperson told IANS.
