London [UK], Nov 1: Adele, who has a four-year-old son Angelo with charity entrepreneur Simon Konecki, has revealed that she struggled with depression after she gave birth to her first child.
In an interview with a magazine, the 28-year old singer disclosed, "I had really bad postpartum depression after I had my son, and it frightened me." "My knowledge of postpartum-or post-natal, as we call it in England-is that you don't want to be with your child.
But I was obsessed with my child. I felt very inadequate; I felt like I'd made the worst decision of my life", she was quoted as saying by Daily Star.
The 'Skyfall' singer said she eventually had to spend some time alone in order to overcome her postpartum depression.
She opened up that she had to cut down on her drinking and quit smoking as according to her "having a hangover with a child is torture." The singer is on a nearly yearlong live tour to promote her album '25' which finishes on November 21.
