Inzamam assures fans; says replacements of Misbah, Younis will emerge

Karachi [Pakistan], May 16 : Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq has assured the country's cricket fans that replacements of both Misbah-ul-Haq and Younis Khan will emerge in the future.

Inzamam, while responding to a poser about Pakistan's chances after the retirements of 75-Test Misbah and 118-Test Younis, said similar concerns were raised and people were worried when players like Imran Khan and Wasim Akram left the game but eventually their replacements were found.

"[Like when Imran Khan and Wasim Akram left the scene], after Misbah and Younis new [talented] players will emerge and they will perform for the national team," the Dawn quoted Inzamam as saying.

The 119-Tests veteran also congratulated the team for their maiden Test series win in the West Indies, saying, "The national team really fought well during the West Indies tour.

Therefore, their efforts should be appreciated." He insisted that the experiment of testing new players on the West Indies Tour remained successful.

Pakistan on Sunday clinched a thrilling 101-run win in the third and final Test with six balls to spare to seal a first series victory in the West Indies, thus giving one of the most heart-stopping send-off possible to retiring Misbah and Younis.

"The team has given a perfect sendoff to Younis and Misbah in the form of victory in the last Test and now the Pakistan Cricket Board will also give them farewell," said the PCB chief selector.
