Tehran [Iran], August 5 : Hassan Rouhani has been sworn in as Iran's President for the second term in an official ceremony held at the Iranian Parliament in Tehran on Saturday.
Rouhani kissed the Qur'an and took the oath of office before the Parliament lawmakers, foreign dignitaries and senior Iranian politicians.
He vowed to use all means of power to serve the country and defend its borders and politico-cultural independence.
"I swear to protect the constitution and justice and to devote myself to protect freedom and people's dignity and rights on the basis of constitution," Xinhua news agency quoted Rouhani as saying during the inauguration.
More than 130 ranking officials from 85 countries and international organisations attended the ceremony.
The leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei had presented official seal of approval to President Rouhani on Thursday.
Rouhani was re-elected as the country's next president on May 19 after he won a landslide victory, sweeping more than 57 percent of the votes.
One-day holiday was declared by the Iranian government Tehran to prepare for presidential inauguration ceremony.
